Once Sentence

I had to blog this because I love this website! One sentence does exactly what is says on the tin, true stories told in one sentence!

I liked this one…

Seeing a 40 year old crack whore wearing a shirt saying “You can’t afford me” and knowing she’s probably right made me realize I’d hit rock bottom.

Trends for 2008

If you haven’t already seen it, check out the 2008 consumer trend report from TrendWatching. I’m fascinated in reading about technological and social-cultural trends and the relationship between consumer culture and brand communications.

Springwise is the sister site to TrendWatching and features a database of ideas that are updated daily. I particularly like ‘do good for debt‘ which asks companies to sponsor graduates to do charity work by helping them pay off their debt.

Fitter, Happier, more Productive?

Wednesday was the first day back at work after the Christmas break, and it quickly became clear that my many of my new years resolution were shared by my colleagues (well done Michelle for joining me in the ‘bring a healthy packed lunch club’). I’ve made a few other resolutions, and this year I’m more committed than ever to sustaining and fulfilling them. Here they are:

1) Blog happy- I’ve had a few blogs in the past that have served various purposes, but I’ve never blogged random musings, so, I’ve decided go re-launch this blog as a way of logging my thoughts throughout 2008.

2) Running, jumping, climbing trees- I’ve decided to get fit! I didn’t think I was unfit until last week when I attempted what used to be a casual jog around the park! So I’ve got my eye on various events and challenged as goals throughout the year. Watch this space.

3) The third and final resolution is going to be by far the most difficult to accomplish. I’m not drinking any alcohol for 3 whole months. That’s right, not a drop until April 3rd. The guys and gals in the studio are placing bets as to how long I’ll last, but I’ve got to warn you guys, it will only reinforce my determination.

Gone But Never Forgotten

Today is a sad day because one of my colleagues is leaving to return to Sweden after several years working at Digit. I’ve only know Gusty for about 6 months, but in that time he has been my personal swimming coach and a good friend. So long Gustav!

Legend Series

Since I left University in June ‘07 the editorial of Streetgraphic has been lead by Chris Boardman who is demonstrating more organisational competence that I ever did! However I don’t seem to be able to keep away, and so I’m helping the team pull together the next issue which will be the first in series of articles that profiles the working lives of some of the greatest designers of the 20 century. There are other exciting developments in the pipeline so watch this space!

BD4D

Last night I missed a real treat!

I was supposed to be going to a BD4D event at the ICA for a jam-packed evening of inspiring presentations from some of London’s top digital designers, instead I had to head North at the last minute to give a presentation the following day.

Well done to Elly and Henry for presenting ‘Bob the Lamp’ fresh from our R+D programme at Digit!

I played a small role in helping organise the event alongside BD4D co-founder Ryan Carson, and asked the lovely guys from Poke if they would present their latest piece of work- Orange Unlimited. A big thank you to Nik Roope for your contribution!

Put a smile upon my face

Ever had one of those moments where you get a little rush of happiness that makes you smile?!

I did today as I got off the boat having sailed from where I live down the Thames to Tower Bridge. As I embarked the sun was shining down on my face as I looked around at London’s world famous attractions scattered along the embankment, thinking back to all the sleepless nights I had in the final year of my degree.

Even better was that is gave me a good excuse to whip the iPhone out a make snap happy!

Obey the Giant

Today I went around the corner onto Brick Lane to check out the exhibition by Shepard Fairy, the creator of the underground icon- Obey Giant. Some nice prints!

Here, try the chicken!

Last night I went for a meal to a fantastic Chinese restaurant with some colleagues and much fun was had by all. It certainly seems that Pete enjoyed his meal….

Went to the RCA last night where my friend Kerri was exhibiting some of her work. Free beer and champagne- they’re really know how to through a party!
